Gary, The Not-So-Scary Ghost: A Halloween Magic Favorite Since 2018
Gary Boodini, the lovable ghost, has been a staple in my Halloween show since 2018. Inspired by Farmyard Frolics by Edwin Hooper and other similar routines like Bob the Bookworm, I realized there was an opportunity to create something fresh—a Halloween version of the concept that hadn’t been done yet. Initially, I designed it for my own use, but after sharing my creation with fellow children’s magicians, I received numerous requests to make copies for them. I ended up selling nearly 30 kits.
Although the first run wasn’t as high-quality as I had hoped (due to the rush to meet demand), Gary, the Not-So-Scary Ghost has since evolved significantly. The quality of the cards is now top-notch, and I’ve developed multiple routines that I’m excited to share. There’s even enough material to create a whole new routine using the included cards, and with the two marked cards, I’m sure you’ll come up with plenty of your own ideas.
This routine has become a personal favorite during Halloween season, and it’s something my regular clients expect and adore. However, last year I discovered another company, Razamatazz Magic, had produced a similar product called Halloween Rampage. After watching their demo, I noticed a few similarities—particularly the name Gary for their ghost and some of the clip art, which came from the same licensed source I used. While their jokes differ, the concept of monster jokes is similar.
That said, I’m confident in stating that the quality and quantity of my product is far superior to theirs. No drama, no assumptions—just a drive to provide the best product possible for fellow magicians.
I currently have a new batch of 20 sets available. Click here for full details. https://www.dannykazam.com/product-page/gary-the-not-so-scary-tricky-ghost
